I recently had the really fun job of being a judge in AOL’s StyleList’s Beauty Awards. I was tasked to trying out new makeup products and rating them. So fun, right? There were a few different categories – hair, make up, skin, and nails, and there were 20 different judges including my friends Molly & Sally, Mary, and Kendall. The winners are in, and here are a few of the top picks!

Oscar Blandi dry shampoo

BB Cream moisturizer/foundation

Bobbi Brown everything mascara

Drybar hair pomade

Kate Somerville detox cleanser

Sephora concealor

Perfekt cheek gel

Deborah Lippmann base & top nail coat

Clinique makeup remover

I myself am quite smitten with the Perfekt cheek gel – it’s perfect for cold months when my skin gets dry. Check out all the winners here!

I can say this because she happens to live on my block… My friend Calder Clark’s home is in this month’s (December) Southern Living all decked out in it’s holiday glory.

I was there this past weekend for our annual Festivus Christmas party and was dying to snap a picture of Calder holding the magazine story in front of her porch, but can you believe she didn’t even have a copy at her house??!! GAH!

Also, a much deserved shout out to my dear friend Haskell Harris who produced the story for Southern Living. Best eye in the biz. And congrats to Calder for the much deserved attention! Thanks for bringing us the holiday inspiration, Southern Living!

Told you. So many quality basics here that possess that extra special detail. I’m quite partial to the whole sweater collection, especially this foil printed pullover that I didn’t include above. The Rebecca Taylor 25% off site promo ends tonight so pop over there quick with the code HOLIDAY25.

As an aside, I’ve been soaking up the holiday season over here. Every morning we find our elf, turn on the Christmas tree lights… So sweet with the kids. I love getting everyone’s Christmas cards in the mail. I’m lame and think that I may actually not get any out yet again this year. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I’m justing having a hard time making it happen. Not off the table yet though. I’ve also spent a frantic week finishing up holiday shopping and have a good third of it wrapped up. I only have a couple of easy things to pick up and need to get a stack of holiday prezzies shipped. How are you making along?

So many party looks so little time…

I could see myself in every single thing up there. I have a sequin dress exactly like that sequin mini up there and it’s seen me through a number of holiday parties over the years. And this year I feel like I need something new – and I just can’t stop thinking about that blue layered number and the fluid silk Otte dress (which comes in 5 colors!) – both would be so comfortable yet beautiful at the same time.

Need the perfect heel? I love these metallic kitten heels!
