Please tell me you know all about Moda Operandi, because it just may be my new favorite site.  The ability to pre-order tomorrow’s styles today, straight from the runway months before they hit stores?  Makes me feel all giddy and maybe a bit reckless.  It’s truly a revolutionary way to shop.

And let’s just talk about Moda Operandi’s co-founders, Lauren Santo Domingo and Aslaug Magnusdottir.  Aslaug has been dubbed “fashion’s fairy godmother” by Vogue and has a portfolio that is mind boggling, including holding a former VP position at Gilt Groupe.  And then of course you’re all familiar with Lauren, aka The LSD, a fashion stylist, contributing editor for Vogue Magazine, um… fashion icon.

I had the incredible pleasure of meeting Lauren a week ago at a party that she co-hosted {along with Jackie Thompson of Leapfrog PR and Tara Guerard of Soiree} for her friend Derek Blasberg’s new book Very Classy (more on that party coming soon!).  For being the envy of most women, she makes it hard to dislike her- she’s fabulous.

{And note to self: never pose with a gorgeous socialite when you’re 30+ weeks pregnant.}
Moda Operandi is set up in the form of trunk shows.  But not just any trunk shows, trunk shows by the world’s top designers.  Here’s a few screenshots so you get an idea of how the site looks.
Pretty awesome, right?  All of the guests at the Derek Blasberg book party were given very generous Moda Operandi gift cards.  Let’s just say I have my eye on a few things ;)
There is a special trunk show launching today that will feature a small selection of the mochilas from this year’s Mochilla Project in support of the BeLive Foundation.  The project takes the handcrafted mochilla bags made by the Wayuu tribeswomen in Columbia and has them reworked by the world’s most prominent fashion houses.  This year’s edition includes YSL, Givenchy, Dior, and Valentino.
And Moda Operandi has teamed up with Look Linger Love to give all of you instant membership access (yep, this means you get to bypass the application).  To take advantage of this invitation, just click here.  Of course, happy shopping and enjoy staying well ahead of the fashion curve!

    I think maybe something is wrong with the Moda site? Tried to sign up but hitting the “Become a Member” button did not do anything… Tried in both Firefox and IE. :(

  5. Morgan says:

    Yeah…I’m going to guess the items on this site will be a wee bit out of my price range! Time to start looking for the look for less based on what I see!

  6. You look gorgeous! Such a fun post. Love Lauren Santo Domingo– insanely beautiful.
