I started off December in what I strongly feared a dumb way – trying out my first chemical peel (from my dermatologist). Not that I regretted trying, just that I regretted trying it in the middle of the busiest month of the year My face looked a little lot scary for close to 72 hours. But I’m happy to report it was a success – I got the peel on a Monday and by that Friday am I was back to normal!

Josh and I hosted our very first big Christmas party this past weekend and it was so much fun! We had a huge turn out and danced all night. I got my friends from Ooh Events and Polished to help with the bar set up (turned out beautiful), hired Peprolls to bring their food cart tent for late night fuel, and played all my favorites on Pandora.

Somewhere between the beginning and the end of the party the police showed up twice and two of my friends jumped on our holiday dressed swan float in the pool (and they may not like that I’m posting this picture but they shouldn’t have sent it to me).

I wore the red Kate Spade flare dress on the right and felt festive playing hostess. The next night I wore the black Kate Spade feather tunic to another Christmas party! And of course the ornament clutch.

A little of my life lately… :)

Last Thursday Gray and I went to the Diner en Blanc event downtown. It was a pop up white party – everyone wore all white and brought picnics with white tables and white chairs. The end result was pretty amazing and it was so much fun. We danced all night!

IMG_2308

I wore a white shirtdress (only $84!), a Twine & Twig necklace, Charleston rice beads on my wrist, and my white Everlane street shoes. Gray wore a dress pretty identical to this one and it’s only $27.

IMG_2268 IMG_2306

In other news, we’ve been spending as much time outside as possible now that I’m not melting from humidity. The kids are big fans of going to Vintage so they can play on this cool truck slide.

IMG_1888

But we don’t discriminate.

IMG_2079

Had dinner with my friends Molly and Olivia at Chez Nous, one of my favorite spots here in Charleston. The menu offers 6 total options and changes daily. Everything is amazing and I recommend ordering as much as possible.

IMG_1965

In other Charleston happenings, Furbish has popped up in Moon & Lola’s King St location! It’ll be there till the end of December – so fun!! I wore my favorite off the shoulder top and Phillip Lim sandals.

IMG_2007

Some of my favorite picks from the night include all the rugs, their finds from their recent travels, and this new jewelry collab collectionespecially this necklace.

IMG_2009

Sally King Benedict’s art show at George Gallery was a total success – this painting was my favorite. You can’t really tell from the picturing but it’s HUGE!

Lilly acting all cute under some halloween decorations on King. Her dress is from Pink Chicken and she’s holding her new Jellycat Bunny that she swindled me into buying ten minutes before.

Stopped in Hot Little Biscuit this past Friday for their fried chicken biscuit. Have we discussed that fried chicken is my favorite food? It really is.

Lots of pumpkin patching going on over here lately. This one below is from Lilly’s school field trip!

IMG_2254

Yesterday we went back to the Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch as a family. The kids love all the slides and things, as well as the hay ride and cornfield maze. Y’all might be glad to know that Fletcher’s chocolate milkshake spilled all over my Free People sweater during lunch at Jacks Cosmic Dogs – but it all came out. No stain whatsoever. I mean, sweater season has only begun, ha! That sweater is also available here.

IMG_2384

Sadly, pumpkins is most all we’ve done as far as Halloween decorating this year. I couldn’t find my bats that I usually put up on our front door. We have some big fake spiders in the kids’ rooms though :)

Our banana plants are growing.

I’m sure y’all are aware that it’s breast cancer awareness month. This plaid wrap benefits the National Breast Cancer Foundation! I throw it on a lot b/c it’s so easy and soft, especially in the morning when we’re getting ready for school (Fletch calls me a super hero b/c I’m in a “super-cape”). Also wearing nude lace up flats.

IMG_2352

We went out with friends Friday night and I wore my blooming sequin cuff, grey Alexander Wang pumps, this off the shoulder blouse, and my cylinder bag!

Happy Monday, Friends!

Skirt Magazine asked me to share what I love about me for an article in their current September issue. It’s not a question that I think about often. I mean, I can name a million things that I love. But what I love about me… what a fun exercise to do!

IMG_1064

I love that water is my favorite thing to drink. I love that I can insert myself into most any song on the radio because it makes the listening experience so much more interesting. I love that somewhere in my attic I still have all of my Babysitter Club and Sweet Valley High books stashed away for my daughter to read one day. I love that I followed my instinct and painted my front door pink. I love that I live in a city where really good french fries are in abundance.

What do you love about yourself?

Life has been good lately over in our corner of the world. The weather is superb and we’ve been outside a ton and in our pool most every day.

Getting a lot of use out of my favorite scallop bikini :) If you want more coverage on the bottom I have these scallop hipsters and LOVE them. And the one piece version a lot, as well.

My friend Rebecca Atwood came to town last week to shoot some scenes in our home for her upcoming book about mixing patterns at home. SO excited about this book – a lot of amazing women friends’ homes are in there, too! Blue stripe towel found here, similar pink towel here, and ladder here.

This cute dress she’s wearing is a gift from Savannah Children. I haven’t dressed Lilly in many traditional dresses but this one felt quite special and is a great keepsake for us. Of course she loves it :)

Lots of porch swinging. Because again, the weather. Fletcher’s striped linen shirt is under $10 here.

Good vibes only over here. Signage from Sharptooth Studio, shelf ledges found here, very similar chair here. And I get a lot of questions about our little sofa there – I found a great look for less right here!

Always manage to find something pretty to take a picture of here in Charleston. How about this dramatic door? It’s not what I usually gravitate to, but I like it nonetheless.

Had a fun coffee meeting with Garden & Gun Magazine yesterday. I’m heading on a summer road trip to St. Louis for them next month! Really excited to go explore, and I’m bringing my friend Gray!

And let’s end on a fun dress find!

streetstyle shirtdress

I’ve had this linen shirtdress for about a month and have probably worn it 4 times already. It comes in a light chambray version, too. I paired it with my blue satchel, gold strap sandals, and a tassel belt. Some people are all about that bass, I’m all about that tassel belt.

TGIF! Here’s a small round up of some of my life lately.

My long time dream of having a pink tree has come true thanks to Treetopia. So fun. How did we ever manage without one?

IMG_7678

Loving how my bone inlay tray from Furbish looks containing all of my wrapping supplies this time of year.

IMG_8178

One of my go to gifts this year (yet again) is Jane Pope Jewelry. Here they are all wrapped up and ready to go.

IMG_8220

If you’re in Charleston you should stop by the Smith St Pop Up Shop in the little carriage house behind 27 Smith St. It’s adorable. Here’s a little space snap of Tink & Tiger things.

IMG_8297

Had to have a real tree to go with our pink tree. The kids had a lot of opinions about how it would go down this year and they wanted colorful. So colorful they got. You might recognize our tree skirt from one of my outfit posts earlier this year.

IMG_8068

Got out the Christmas china. Every year my mother in law gifts me another set and I love how they all are different. We are up to 8 sets now. How pretty is this set?

IMG_7932

Making changes around here and here’s a color sneak peek!

IMG_8150

This little vignette is right by our front door. I share this today because I just found that pink lady print online and I get a lot of questions about it.

Morning. Sharing a little life lately today. It was a great weekend here in Charleston. Halloween was a big huge success. We went simple with the kids’ costumes this year. Fletch was a pirate and Lilly was a witch. We had a neighborhood party and then trick or treating. I also spent all morning at the school for the various parades/carnivals/class parties. Halloween is a pretty big deal.

IMG_6531

On me: this layered detail sweater, these jeans, these shoes

THIS new Places to Go, People to See KSNY book. In love with it. It’s big and thick and is full of charming novelties and ideas. Also, my shoes.

Troubadour’s Charleston showroom and some pretty new fall things.

Halloween decorations in the playroom that now need to be taken down.

Last Thursday I co-hosted a party at the Nathaniel Russell House downtown with the Historic Charleston Foundation. It was gorgeous, and I can say that because I had zilch to do with the planning. Here are two of my favorite rooms in the house…

IMG_6255 IMG_6259

And here’s our garden party.

IMG_6274

Cute new book by one of our favorites, Mac Barnett. Also, this rug.

IMG_6457

Our Saturday looked a lot like this. Chili, book reading, and a fire.

IMG_6631

I’ve been itching to paint our front door pink and I think I finally found the perfect shade…

IMG_6660

Remember my 2 pairs of bow back flats? I still wear them all the time. Well I just found an identical look for less pair. Just $65.

I managed to steal away for an hour downtown this weekend and picked up a new favorite sweater. It’s the high-low sweater and I’m pretty sure I’m going to get it in more colors. Simple and cozy and easy.
