I don’t know about you but if I’m heading out for a day where I know I’ll be on my feet and walking around a lot I always reach for some cute but comfortable flats. And thankfully the menswear trend is kicking into high gear this season because these Johnston & Murphy velvet slippers are favorites of mine. They’re easy and polished all at the same time.

Check out these 14 inspiring takes on fall footwear that StyleList put together from their network of bloggers, myself included. I really loved seeing the different ways all the girls styled the shoes. Happy Saturday. I’m writing from Asheville, NC. Josh and I drove up Thursday for a conference (his) so I’ve been relaxing and enjoying the weather and view. I’ve been living in long knits and leggings because that is exactly what I want to be wearing when I’m lounging around and still need to look put together. Sure I could throw on my jeans but who wants to curl up in those? The key to pulling off leggings in public is pairing them with a long top because no one wants to see your stuff.

If you’re looking for a good basic black legging it doesn’t get better than these spanx leggings. I can never have enough pairs as I want to pull them on every morning.

I’m embracing the remaining warm days by mixing my fall wardrobe with my favorite summer things. These Johnston & Murphy Noel Booties are the perfect low bootie to pair with my cutoffs and dresses now and then my jeans later. I love how the little dip in the front of these booties elongates my legs (always a plus when you’re 5’4 like me).

The mushroom suede color of these booties is so versatile that I’ve found a million different things to wear them with, but they come in black and dark brown as well. They’re perfectly comfortable too, so I can wear them all day long.

Stay tuned for part two of my collaboration with Johnston & Murphy on Monday – I think you’ll love the next pair! Think menswear.

Happy Friday!

Every Fall I get a little homesick for the midwest. You can’t beat crisp air and football season (but it’s worth noting I can’t stand actually watching football). But tailgating – well I really love that. My field tailgating days are quite minimal these days, BUT if I were to make my way to the field (or to a favorite local bar with my husband) I like to think I’d look a little something like this…

Isn’t she the cutest? And her style is so easy to steal. Grab your favorite team sweatshirt and pair it with any one of these skirts. Add some heels, flats or booties, whichever is more you, and you’re ready to cheer on your team (or look good pretending to).

Do you consider yourself a “classic” type of dresser? If you want to reach out of your comfort zone a little bit I have a simple theory for you. Think basic, but with a special detail. For instance, instead of a plain nude flat opt for this nude flat with the teeny tiny gold heel (bonus it’s under $90). Instant  interest.

I’ve pulled a few more classic pieces for you that have an interesting detail that make them feel special.

And speaking of Loren Hope… let’s all take a moment to eye her new fall collection of jewels.

I’m going crazy over the idea of stacking 2-3 sarra cuffs with the clara and mara bracelets. Let’s throw a sophia cuff in the mix too.

It’s all complete perfection. And you can shop every beautiful piece right here. Don’t miss the necklaces.
