Ladies today I have such a fun treat for you all!  Please welcome for one of my favorite style bloggers, Christine from bun & borough.  Residing in NYC herself, I thought Christine would be the perfect gal to round up some gift ideas for any city girl at heart.  I think you’ll be happy with her suggestions, I know I am!   I’ll let her take it away…

Hi all! I’m Christine from bun & borough and it’s very nice to meet you. When Chassity contacted me about doing a guest post on her blog, I was so excited to put together a little gift guide that I got started right away. Aren’t wish lists just the best? When I was much younger, my little sister and I would go through the Toys R Us catalog or American Girl catalog and cut out our favorite things and glue them to slips of paper… for Santa of course. Back then, the top gift on our list was anything Littlest Pet Shop… ha! Nowadays, I’m eyeing chic items – clothing, accessories, decorations – that will last a long time and many a move from apartment to apartment in New York City. For the stylish, fun city girl, here is the ultimate gift guide…

Sturdy boots [Vince Camuto, $198] keep the city girl prepared for all kinds of tumultuous winter weather, and are all too easy to slip on over spandex or jeans. Leopard wedges [Tory Burch, $295] are for those Saturday nights out on the town. A chic scarf [Hermes, $395] is the accessory that brightens up any outfit, as is this sparkly nail polish [Butter London via Nordstrom, $14]. A flow-y tunic [Calypso St. Barth, $190] that can be worn all year round, like any of the tunics from Calypso St. Barth.

This bronzing powder [Bobbi Brown via Sephora, $33] for a healthy winter glow, and this perfume [Kate Spade via Sephora, $80] for a little fruity and floral scent. The perfect wallet [Tory Burch, $195] to keep the city girl’s important things like a license, credit cards, club cards, and gift cards organized. This ipod shuffle [Apple via Target, $45], necessary for walks to the subway or workouts in the park. Another little sparkle for her in classic stud earrings [Tinley Road via Piperlime, $26]. A Yoga DVD [Debenhams, $16] to pop in after a long day of work, and a cool pillow [Calypso St. Barth, $380] to cozy up with. A year’s subscription to Marie Claire [Hearst Magazines, $10 for 12 issues] (or Glamour or Redbook or Real Simple).
This nail polish set [Essie via Nordstrom, $15], perfectly called red hot fiesta, and a little brow, eye, and cheek shimmer [Benefit via Sephora, $24] for special occasions and parties. A stack of pretty yellow bangles [Kenneth Jay Lane va Net a Porter, $375], and a polka dot change purse [Kate Spade via Zappos Couture, $100]. And lastly, classic wayfarers [RayBan, $145] for bright, sunny days in the city.
Happy Holidays!
xoxox, Christine

A big thank you to Christine for sharing some of her city must haves!!  I would love to have all of her picks, especially the tunics and that nail polish!!  If you haven’t already visited her blog, be sure to hop on over to bun & borough and check out some of her lovely posts.  She has a few more gift guides to shop over there too :)

Do you all know about the Me Oh My Shop?  I’ve been reading Nicole’s blog for a while now, and am most excited that she now has a shopping site!  Check out these goodies.  Adore the “In Love” pillow as well as the holiday inspired ones.

The letter plaques would add visual interest almost anywhere.  Congrats Nicole, and as she said- Happy Shopping!!

Hold the phone.  I’m DYING over Tilly Maison’s collection of striped lucite trays.  And they’re reasonably priced.  Love.  Need.

That little card holder would brighten up any desk!

Let’s start off this week with another favorite things feature.  Amanda of Recycled Consign & Design is one savvy lady.  She brings new life to old furniture in such a current yet befitting approach that it’s no wonder her shop is such a success.  Her blog is full of style and tasteful DIY projects that it makes even the most non-creative (IE, me) want to give it a go.  Oh, and she’s sweet and insanely adorable too!!  I know, I know, enough gushing- get to the good stuff…  With that, I’ll hand it on over.

I was thrilled when Chassity asked me to share my favorite things with all of you. I met Chassity back in NY at the Nate Show and totally feel in love, she is such a doll and has great style to boot :) So I thought I would share my 5 favorite things, but found that I couldn’t get it down past 7….bare with me, I hope you will love them as much as me!

1. I recently bought this Jonathan Adler Druggist jar off of guilt and I am so in love! I saw it while in his store in San Fransisco and could barley walk away. It makes me laugh with it’s funny humor, on one side it says Love and on the other Hate. He is brilliant!
2. My collection of random vintage pieces in my entry would have to make the list! There are so many things that have fun memories of trips with friends and family gathered over years. My sister, Mom and I love to go to vintage shops or flea markets so these are some favorites.
3. Late 1920’s game table. We love to play games with our friends (not that we play on this) so I was extra giddy when I came across this piece at the local goodwill. I had to watch it for a few days because they wanted too much but in the end I scored it for $65.00…yippee! It makes the perfect side table, don’t you think?
4. The wallpaper in my master bedroom always makes my happy. Its called Sophia in charcoal from Graham and Brown.
5. I LOVE this too…my bamboo wall flats from Inhabit. They are totally green (or red in my case) and come in tons of different patterns!
6. Magazines & Blogs…I truly cannot live with out these! The joy I feel opening the mail box to see the cover of Elle Decor or Cosmo can’t be describe. And when the Internet is down, and I can’t look at all my favorite Blogs I am devastated. Pathetic, I know! I am loving all the great new online mags out there…but holding a crisp thick copy in your hand cannot be replaced :)
7. My store…I opened {RE}Cycled consign and design about a year ago and feel so blessed to get to do what I LOVE! I never thought owning my own shop would happen but it did and it has been such a success! My husband Mike was the person that pushed me the most to do this and if it wasn’t for the support and help he provides with the family I don’t think it would have been possible, XOXO! I couldn’t find the pictures of the store I was looking for but I just got these head shots done in the shop so they will have to do…Thanks Chassity for all the Fun! Hope you enjoyed!
Cheers,
A.

Thanks so much to Amanda for sharing her favorite things in her home!  What lovely images, I adore the Adler jarsl!!  Head on over to Recycled Consign & Design to see the latest project Amanda tackled over the weekend.
