A couple of weeks ago I had one of the best mornings ever. I toured the biscuit mecca, Callie’s Charleston Biscuits. And when I say mecca I mean mecca. Don’t let the “Charleston” in Callie’s Charleston Biscuits fool you into thinking this is just a local thing. These biscuits are shipped all over the country all-day-long. You may have seen them on QVC (again!) yesterday. It’s serious business y’all. Because these biscuits are seriously the bees knees.

The Callie’s Biscuit House is in the Navy’s old medical building in North Charleston, SC and is full of charm and history. You really should take a visit if you’re ever in the area. But even more important are the ladies inside :) While the biscuit recipe comes from Callie, Callie’s daughter Carrie is who has made it possible for all of us to enjoy :)

Carrie and her team are making buttermilk biscuits galore, think ham, black pepper bacon, cinammon, cheese and chive. They’re also making some of the best pimento cheese and jam you’ll taste. I told you, this place is paradise. Good thing I’m not there every morning. Who can turn down Carrie’s cute daughters?

Callie’s also just launched The Buttery. It’s pretty much the goods to keep in your pantry for yourself or for gifts – Carolina grits, pecans,  King Bean coffee, Fat & Juicy bloody mary mix, Jack Rudy tonic… I think this Buttery Pack would be the perfect gift to give your Thanksgiving and Christmas hosts this year.

I always, always have a pack of Callie’s Biscuits in my freezer. They’re the perfect go to for guests, morning or night. Just like when my friend Anna came by for porch wine a week ago (we finished the entire basket of the cheese and chive biscuits). I also brought some along to the mountains this past weekend (they were devoured too).
Big thanks to Libba, Jackie, and Carrie for showing me around. I’ll come back any morning that you’ll have me to dish over some biscuits!

Home Depot knocked on the right door when they invited me to participate in their Holiday Style Challenge. I’m a self confessed holiday junkie, and Christmas is at the tippy top of the list for me.

And naturally, my kids have inherited this passion too.
But I had my doubts that my neighborhood would be all that excited to see us decorating in October (we’re new to the neighborhood, and my decorating task was the front door!). So I made a couple of signs. These got a lot of laughs and shouts by people walking by.
You can check out the entire post here with all the pictures and links to the Home Depot products used. Be sure to scroll through and check out the other bloggers that participated too. Lots of great ideas from some cool girls over there.
Thanks for inviting me to take part in your Holiday Style Challenge, Home Depot! We enjoyed it and love our new decorations.

We spent the weekend with friends (6 adults and 6 kids) at a friend’s mountain home near Asheville, NC. It was glorious. The kids couldn’t have had any more fun sliding down hills, throwing rocks, and making s’mores (could have slept better though…) and the adults enjoyed ourselves too with the most incredible food and drink all weekend. Oh and many games of Catch Phrase. It was so great.

It also happened to be Lilly’s birthday, so we had a little celebration while we were up there too (she has many more celebrations to come, too).

It just feels good to get outside by a fire*, a bubbly stream, some pretty leaves, and the thrill of the possibility of a bear appearance, ya know? All with some hot spiked cider and a grill and I’m one happy mountain girl. I hope you had a great weekend, too.

* Nicely built fire by the way, guys (not that you read my blog). And why is it that grown men turn into kids when they get around a fire??

My weak clicking finger can barely resist a good sale. And Shopbop is having a big one (in case you haven’t noticed they are my favorite online shopping site). So much good stuff, but I’ve narrowed down the best things under $100 (need to click on the links to see new sale price). Wouldn’t that Marc Jacobs polka dot top be perfect for holidays?

I hope y’all have a great weekend. We’ll be celebrating a birthday :)

I put together a little nursery design for my friend Christine that she’s sharing on her blog today. Lots of good things over there, so go see! Congrats Christine :) xoxo

Last week I took a trip to one of my favorite event planning and supply sources, Ooh! Events. Maybe it’s the time of year, what with so many parties coming up. But I was feeling festive. And inspired. And after this visit I’m DYING to throw a soiree.

Ooh! Events has a front showroom set up with gorgeous scene after even more gorgeous scene of tablecapes and arrangements featuring vintage china, eclectic glassware, you name it. But what really makes this place special is their collection of unique items. It’s as if you’ve stepped into the home of the coolest person you know and you’re partying with all of their best things.

I love the mix of vintage china and candles. So pretty.

Can you even believe this furniture??

How great is this nailhead tabletop? They have a ton of these in different shapes and sizes to put on top of tables.
Then I took a walk through their ginormous warehouse space. Aisle upon aisle of the most insane, unique rent-ables. But when the city you live in (Charleston, SC) is the #1 wedding destination location, you do kinda need to be on top of your game :)
Really, if I showed you everything we’d be here for days so I’ll stop. But I’m inspired. Are you?
Thanks for showing me around, Megan! I love the new Ooh! Events showroom!
