This past weekend we drove two hours south to Palmetto Bluff, SC, one of my most favorite places in the world. We had stayed there before so we already knew how much we loved it. They were kind enough to play host to us this weekend and our time there was filled with impressive experiences and happiness all around.
If you haven’t had the pleasure of visiting PB here’s a brief lesson. Palmetto Bluff is 20 thousand acres of nature unspoiled and is truly unlike any other place. During the antebellum era the land was comprised of 21 plantations. It’s really interesting stuff – think wealthy socialites, lavish parties, and a great mansion fire (read more about that here). Palmetto Bluff takes GREAT care in preserving and protecting the land’s lush maritime forests and tidal creeks while providing for the vibrant and recreational community that it is.
Spoiler alert. This place is adorable. Everywhere you look it’s charm, charm, and more charm. Who wouldn’t want to get married in this waterfront chapel?!
We stayed in a cottage at The Inn at Palmetto Bluff, A Montage Resort. And hey look, here it is. See, adorable right? Each cottage comes with bikes.
Spacious, nicely designed, and well appointed.
Out our screen porch we had this view of the May River.
So we hopped on bikes and cruised all over the place because that’s what I like to do the most at PB. Hey PB, is it okay for me to call y’all that? We’re friends, right? Let me show you around.
All of the homes in the village have these cute pinecones on their house number signs.
The pool is set right on the water and the only problem with it is that I’ve never gotten in it. Both times I’ve visited it’s been colder weather. Definitely coming back in the summer time.
I know you can see my reflection here and that might seem lame but I wanted to snap this quick and show you a little of the fitness center. This here is a corner of their spin studio over looking the water. A spin studio over looking the water!
Spinning isn’t your jam? Take another fitness class or pick another sport like these.
Or hop on a horse and go trail riding.
Kayaking, paddle boards, and fishing are available as well.
Or take the boat over to the beach for some quiet time.
The Inn is a great gathering spot for hanging out. I love the fire pits and raiding the cookies and hot chocolate station.
We had the opportunity to spend a few hours on Saturday with the Conservancy Director, Jay Walea. He is hands down Palmetto Bluff’s number one fan and will convert anyone to his opinion. His whole job is to ensure conservation of The Bluff and protect it’s natural resources while educating everyone involved in the development of each new piece of property. He stars in an AMAZING video on the Palmetto Bluff site and you should totally go watch it. We even rode around in the red truck he’s driving and I swear he was wearing the same clothes. If you ever visit Palmetto Bluff, and I hope that you do, I insist that you meet him.
After the day’s activities we went back to the cottage for a bit and caught this gorgeous sunset off of our back deck.
We had a great dinner at the Canoe Club, drinks with new friends at the River House Bar, and ended the night out at the fire pits making smore’s.
The next morning we woke up with a fire and a view.
This is the back of our cottage.
I know I said that biking around the property is my favorite thing to do at PB, but I’m a liar. I love a spa day, even more so when they come to you. While there is a great spa on property, we were able to experience the new Couples Elopement In-Room Spa Treatment. Side by side, full body exfoliation and detoxifying steam shower (picture of our steam shower below), followed by a massage and warm body cocoon, including a hair and scalp treatment and foot reflexology. Yes. Book that y’all. It was heavenly.
After our spa treatment, much to Josh’s happiness, we got a tour of the soon to open Shooting Club with the course designer David Sewell and his family. It was really a fun time and I even shot a couple of times. Hunting and shooting sports have been a long-standing tradition at Palmetto Bluff, and this new 13 sporting clays station is set in such a gorgeous location. Man happiness right there.
If you need a great Valentine’s Day gift, this would probably be a winner. And by “winner” I mean win win for all.
Because Palmetto Bluff really is one of the most enchanting places you’ll ever experience.
Thanks to Palmetto Bluff and The Inn at Palmetto Bluff, A Montage Resort for partnering with Look Linger Love on this post and providing for such a great get away.
You will LOVE it.
I think this is where we’re headed for our babymoon! Looks absolutely enchanting.

As awesome as it is to visit Palmetto Bluff, nothing compares to living here. It is truly like living in paradise! The miles of paths are incredible for walking and biking. Boating, kayaking, and paddle boarding allow you even better views of the May River and inland waterway. The live oaks, Spanish moss, May River, marshland, maritime forests, inland waterway, gas lanterns, brick sidewalks, quaint chapel, Wilson ruins on the green… And I could go on and on… create an environment of relaxation and pure joy to just take in the beauty. If you do come to visit, please remember that this is not just a vacation resort; this is home to a lot of people. So please love and respect it like we do. We love sharing it with you!
Thanks Misty!!
You captured it perfectly!! I loooooove Palmetto Bluff! It is truly magical!
Sarah! I remember you!! So fun to hear from you again. You are really pretty much the luckiest of them all!!
The best!! My parents and my husband’s parents both have homes in this piece of heaven and we were fortunate enough to have our wedding reception in the lawn outside of the inn in October! I had actually reached out to you just before then with a question and you were so helpful and beyond kind for your well wishes! I always love hearing that people are so in love with PB — how could you not be?! The photos are making me want to hurry back down there instead of trudging through the Chicago snow!
Cottages are the jam. Totally make the experience so much more comfortable and charming. xoxo
Seriously, THIS place is amazing. Y’all would love it.
You’re right! How in the world did I forget to mention the golf?!! Best little place, isn’t it. xoxo
LOVE this post!! My husband and I stayed at the Inn at Palmetto Bluff for our first wedding anniversary, and it was incredible! We only had two days, so I feel like we need to go back to experience all that you wrote about. One thing you didn’t mention that we did get to experience is the golf course…it is AMAZING!! It’s definitely one of my favorite destinations!

Oh, this just looks beautiful. I lived in Charleston for two years and I read your blog to take me back – especially during the Winter months! My husband and I have been talking about a possible SC trip this summer (fingers crossed) and Palmetto Bluffs may be the perfect place to stay. Oh and I am definitely planning a Bachelorette party in Chas for June in which I’ll definitely be referencing your blog/Instagram. Thank youuu!! <3
