So here’s the first question I’m asking all of you super talented readers (you don’t have to be a designer to answer!)…

The key to kiddos you’ll find is that things need to be visible and within reach. Finding a cute way to display their necessary items in a way that makes it easy for them to keep them organized once they’re done using is key. I also love the idea of affixing a towel bar to the front of the vanity so handtowels are within reach when they wash those little hands. :) As for the vanity, I love the idea of repurposing an old dresser, painting it a fun color, changing out the hardware, etc. and then getting the pipes installed how you need.
Third the notion of Home Decorators! I got their Julia vanity on a great deal with FREE shipping (wait for a sale – shipping was more than the vanity). Painted it a great bold coral color and love it. (Now that I check, seems they have free shipping for President’s day, but no longer the simple Julia vanity. Maybe it will come back …)
Our first house which we moved from 2 years ago, my husband was still doing his residency and we were on a tight budget. Needed vanities for my girls, so went to Home Depot bought a cheap white vanity for 129 and stripped it and painted it pale pink (what they wanted) and handpainted little white flowers all over it. You have no idea how many people wnated to know where I got it, it was really pretty. A little imagination goes a long way.
I have been lusting after those coral knobs for quite some time!

yeah – I second the comments above. If you can find an old dresser in the right height that is great. Also Home Decorators collection has some great inexpensive vanities. You could buy one and paint it a fun color as well. And it comes with the counter and sink.
One more thought :) We just bought a Kohler squared pedestal sink from Lowe’s for around $350..I love it!
I’ve just had a couple clients go with options from Home Decorators..really affordable, and with some hardware changes, pretty fabulous!
Edlund dresser from IKEA (Painted or not- I love the grey color it comes in!) and replace the hardware with Anthropologie-ish knobs from Hobby Lobby. They have great selection and less expensive than Anthro. You have a Hobby Lobby in West Ashley I believe. The knobs that come on the dresser are already pretty great too!
how about replacing the doors with reclaimed boards (like all those headboards we keep seeing), and using them a plain white standard cabinet, but on legs. Mid-century upcycled cool :)

I would find a unique piece at a thrift store and paint it a white shabby chic. Then, I’d replace the drawer knobs with fun pink or blue knobs from Anthropologie. It would create a unique piece with little money. :) Good luck!

Ohhhh this is fun! I would buy an old retro dress, paint it a fun color and have the piping installed! So much character and not a huge investment!
