Happy Memorial Day Weekend!! Last night we went to the Yacht Rock concert on IOP and had such a fun time. Lots of pool time ahead of me this weekend. Also shopping all the Memorial Day sales -they are so good! Here are my favorite finds!!
I have that little woven crossbody bag in brown. It’s fabulous. I’ve been using Merit beauty and am LOVING it. JCrew is having a major 40% off site wide sale and I love this little dress and these shorts. So many fun finds – happy shopping and happy weekend!
I’ve got a running list of cool things that have turned my head and kept me thinking and I’ve rounded them up in a tidy little round up. It all started with this adjustable (to 3 different positions) green floral chaise. I want it for the beach – it comes with a cute little bag that it folds right up into!
So that hair brush up there? It has over 50,000 incredible reviews so it must be doing something right. I just finished Emily Henry’s new book Funny Story and it was really cute. I am sipping this exact Beauty Matcha right now. I have it every single morning for the last 2+ years. Those Paris crochet totes are just adorable aren’t they? Scarlett Johannson came out with a new skincare line. This white top with the bow tie detail is ADORABLE. And this black mini is an easy throw on and go dress!
Another round up of my Amazon finds and faves and starting it off with my tweed dress! It’s under $50 and is seriously so cute. I’m in a size small! There are loads of color options. The braided details are so sweet, I highly recommend!
Another favorite recent purchase is this plunge bra. If you saw the reel I made this week on Instagram then you can see just how plunge it is. It stayed well hidden under my boobiest dress (the true test)! These are my new cropped jeans that I’ve been wearing and they are SO comfortable and just keep the best shape. Again, highly recommend and they run TTS. Two of my new summer sandals are these platform black Tevas (super comfortable for long walking days) and these gold toe black flats (dressy and so chic)! This touch lamp has three light settings and a built in charger to rest your phone. And this woven outdoor trash bin is the prettiest I’ve ever seen. It’s good for all weather and will dress up your backyard bbqs!! There’s a black and white version as well.
Our Spring Break family trip to Rome was incredible. We did 5 full days and 5 nights and it was the perfect European getaway! The weather was incredible low to high 70’s (we went the first week of April) and so we managed some pool time in between exploring. Here are some photos and moments, at the end of the post I’ll share our specific recommendations!!
Touring the Vatican first day and a little exhausted but it was still great.
First, I cannot recommend our tour guide enough. His name is Simone and he’s an archaeologist born and raised in Rome. I can’t imagine there is someone in that city who knows more, and he is an incredible story teller. Book him for any and every tour you do! Thank you to my friend Jessica for recommending him.
We did 3 tours during our trip: The Vatican (including Sistine Chapel, The Coliseum and Roman Forum, and the Underground Rome. We loved them all! I think the Coliseum/Roman Forum was our favorite of them all.
We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria hotel. It’s up on the hill so you need to take a taxi to and from the city but we loved being in this quiet and relaxing area of Rome! We chose it for the pool and were lucky enough to get a hot and sunny week! The concierge team at the hotel was to helpful and handled all of my reservations in advance which made the trip so easy! If you’re staying in Rome for more than a couple of days and would love a great pool I’d highly recommend this hotel for families. It has a great spa, too! Oh and it included an incredible breakfast buffet everyday that came with your room rate.
There are a million restaurants you could try. We had three stand outs and they are Pianostrada, Taverna Trilussa, and Emma. We had a reservation at Pierluigi for our last night that we ended up canceling b/c we were in the mood for something casual, but I wanted to mention it because it came highly recommended from a few friends that I trust and I’m sure it would have been a favorite. In general I loved the Trastevere neighborhood the most!
Last piece of advice is to leave plenty of time to just relax and wander and explore. Especially if you’re traveling with teens! Eat all the pizza and gelato that you pass that calls your name. It was a fabulous trip and I can’t wait to go back to Italy and explore some more!
