TGIF y’all! Here’s a little of my life lately…

I think I’ve mentioned I’m on a “spruce up the house” kick. Something about the new year. But that involves moving things around. Makes things feel fresh, don’t you think? Bowls, marble/wood chessboards, similar sconce.

Treasuring nap time with this guy. He’ll grow out of it soon and I will really miss this quiet and sweet one on one time we have before he falls asleep. Nap time is just so much easier than bedtime around here.

Lilly’s wild hair don’t care. Rug found here. Similar trench coat here.

Got this handy dish (get it?) and it’s perfect for housing jewelry or whatnot things. Here they’re holding my turquoise tassel earrings.

One of many pretty sun sets in our ‘hood. There’s not much to dislike about a pink sky.

Been thinking a lot about this room by Target. I mean, that bench and that little table!!

Oh look our playroom is picked up. Better snap a pic! LOVE our fun Let’s Run Amok banner.

We are refinishing an old desk that we’ve had for awhile and I wanted a fun color. I ended up choosing that lower purple color and I’m pretty pumped. We need more purple in our lives. It’s Benjamin Moore California Lilac and I’m liking that it’s a color I don’t see used often.

This stripe top is right out of yesterday’s morning blog post! Remember the dramatic turtleneck comment? So fun! Ladder available here.

Good Monday morning. Just a few scenes from my life lately.

First things first I’m a realist I cut a bob. Short and blunt, on a whim, and I’m happy with the change.

On Saturday the kids got to go to their Grandma’s house so Josh and I grabbed breakfast at Hot Little Biscuit before a morning at the Charleston Place Spa. It was heavenly and was one of my Christmas gifts from him.

Afterwards I spent some time on King Street. Things are looking really pretty at Hampden right now. I love this stripe bag with the chain.

I’ve been cooking a lot of winter soups and sauces with my new Staub cookware. Have any of you tried this line? It’s really pretty and I love cooking with cast iron.

Some pretty things… This Kate Spade walletthese earrings, and this water.

Charleston got a new (and gorgeous) coffee/wine bar. Stoked! Welcome St Alban.

My new favorite hair tool… I can’t say enough. I’ve been wanting this Drybar blow dryer for a long time but I waited to buy it until I felt like my old hair dryer was about finito. I shouldn’t have waited. It’s amazing and I can’t recommend it enough.

I knew I had to have these Aquazzura pumps (also available here) the moment I laid my eyes on them. You’ll find a pineapple at the bottom of every pair of Aquazzura shoes, it represents good fortune and the designer’s golden touch.

Lastly, if you have kids in your lives then you need to know about these personalized books. There are a ton of different stories to choose from and you can build the story around your child and even throw in the names of friends. My kids are OBSESSED with these. Fletcher thinks it’s hilarious that his cousin Gavin is his parrot in his pirate adventure book. Check out all of the personalized book options here.

A new year, a fresh start to getting organized in your home. These tools can help.

1. These all natural Common Good cleaning supplies are great for families.

2. Wire baskets are perfect for corralling items (new cleaning supplies?) & looks good doing it.

3. Cannisters to keep your sugar and flour handy.

4. Hand vacuum, these things are a Godsend.

5. I have two ladders in my home that I use as towel and throw storage. They’re the best!

6. This over the door basket organizer would be great in laundry rooms, mudrooms, closets…

7. A furniture brush to keep your decor looking fresh.

8. The possibilities are endless with a metal bucket.

9. This side table not only looks good but can double as a storage display as well.

10. I consider fabric steamers to be necessary. If you don’t have one consider your life changed.

11. This hot steam air humidifier is perfect for winter.

12. Love this basket stand! Perfect for mudroom, kitchen, bathroom, laundry room…

Isn’t that floral top so pretty? It comes in a blue version as well. And the little rock stud flats are too cute, too.

Merry Christmas (Eve). We are in Kentucky and it’s so nice to be here with family. We’ll spend a couple of days up here and in Indiana and then on Friday we are flying to Disney World. The kids are on cloud nine. It’ll be their first legit time (Lilly visited Disneyland in California for one long morning when she was just under 3).

Once again I didn’t manage to get my act together to get holiday cards out (you see what happened was, is that I don’t have anyone’s addresses organized). BUT if I would’ve gotten one out it probably would have looked something like this (found here).

Merry Christmas to each of you. I have some posts planned so don’t go too far this holiday break. Also, thanks to Gray for capturing this typical scene during our mountain weekend earlier this year.

Happy Tuesday. A little bit of my life lately in no particular order…

December has been a very busy month filled with holiday meals and parties, activities with the kids, holiday shopping, and what has felt like everything else under the sun. Here’s a snap of the lovely Husk restaurant here in Charleston where one of my holiday brunches with girlfriends took place.

I mentioned I was ordering some of these pieces from the Furbish pop up. Here’s one up in the kids’ playroom.

Merry Merry. It’s almost here.
