Home Depot knocked on the right door when they invited me to participate in their Holiday Style Challenge. I’m a self confessed holiday junkie, and Christmas is at the tippy top of the list for me.

And naturally, my kids have inherited this passion too.
But I had my doubts that my neighborhood would be all that excited to see us decorating in October (we’re new to the neighborhood, and my decorating task was the front door!). So I made a couple of signs. These got a lot of laughs and shouts by people walking by.
You can check out the entire post here with all the pictures and links to the Home Depot products used. Be sure to scroll through and check out the other bloggers that participated too. Lots of great ideas from some cool girls over there.
Thanks for inviting me to take part in your Holiday Style Challenge, Home Depot! We enjoyed it and love our new decorations.

An end of the week brain dump, if you will…

Did you SEE my dear and talented friend Christine’s reveal of her daughter Scarlett’s new room?? Like whoa. So good.

 The wallpaper!!!

It’s not exact but this Serena & Lily bed is very similar if you want the look. And check out the light…

I do know that she used the West Elm Souk Rug. I’ve been eyeing that rug for awhile. Isn’t it gorgeous in there? I know A LOT of love and time went into this room. Awesome job, Christine!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I have a couple things in my shopping cart. Who wants to talk me over the edge?
Splendid Knit Booties – I have a hard time with boots b/c I just don’t think they’re all that comfortable. These look cozy and cute to boot. They’re $148 which isn’t so bad for casual neutral boots that I could wear with any color…
Hi Lo Blazer with sequin shawl – Holidays are around the corner. Enough said right? I should have this, right??
BB Dakota Shawl Jacket – Pretty sure I will throw this on every time I walk out the door. And only $108.
TBags Hi Lo Dress – Gorgeous Holiday dress for less than $200. Shit yes.
Thermal Sweater – I think this could be, like, the LLL signature sweater.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And I’ve been under a rock and had no idea about JEWELIQ. Do you know about them? Thanks to my friend Gaby for telling me about them. Everything in the shop is $25 or less. Seriously. And a lot of pretty stuff. And free shipping in the US.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ve had a few of you ask me where we got our lanterns seen by our front door. Ours are actually gas lanterns, but these aged copper lanterns are very similar and are electric so you don’t have to worry about switching to gas. Plus these are made by Quoizel which is based here in Charleston :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Lastly, major major major thank you to my friend Cassie for featuring my art on her blog yesterday. My head is about to explode from the love y’all. I know my art isn’t everyone’s thing (that’s the point after all) so it means the world when someone does love it and tells me so :) And coming from Cassie, well it’s just super cool. Hi Sugarplum is one of my favorite reads and I can call her a legit friend. This is Cassie. Total babe.

xoxox Happy Weekend!!

We’re finally getting around to setting up our guest bedroom. It’s getting there. Need to find some drapes yet. Which reminds me, I have a few things that don’t quite work in this house- especially drapes. If y’all are interested I might list some of them on here. Anyway, here’s the bed.

I love this brass bed, it was in Josh’s family. And if I didn’t already have the white quilt I would have purchased this coverlet. I’m kinda obsessed with it and click on it regularly. That fun throw I have at the bottom is from ABC Home. Could also be a wall hanging, love a good versatile piece. We have pretty much nothing on the walls in our house. Haven’t gotten to that task quite yet.
While I was in Chicago over the weekend, Josh planted all of the plants in our flower boxes. These things are about 6 feet long and there are 4 of them. It was a big job. I think they look awesome and can’t wait for them to grow in some. We planted Ghost flowers, coral bells, camellias, and ivy. I can’t remember the name of those fun light green bushy plants. Who can help me out here? ** Edit – they’re Foxtails, thanks Kate! **
Fletcher is all about chasing his sister around or just plain running into her. It’s hilarious really. Maybe only I think it’s funny?
I went bra shopping last night. I hate bra shopping. This is how I feel about it.
I can’t believe I’m sharing that. I went to Victoria’s Secret b/c it’s convenient. Most of their bras are absolute crap on me. I do like the Showstopper though. It supports me but doesn’t make me look bigger than I am. For lounging around the house I really love Bali’s Comfort Revolution bras. They have a new underwire style in this collection that I’m dying to try too.
This weekend I’m working on my Home Depot Holiday Style Challenge (read about it and all the bloggers participating here). I’m decorating my front door for their website. I’m certain all my new neighbors will think I’m kooky when they walk by and see me putting up Christmas stuff in October. I think I’ll need to put up signs in the yard to explain what’s up.
Happy Weekend!

I’m back from vacation and am stiiiiill settling in. Geesh. But we had a great time with my family. Stayed in a beautiful resort (Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach). Ate a lot of really good food, which I’m paying for now with tight shorts… Had a lot of yummy pool pitchers. Shopped. Caught a baseball game, which I practically fell asleep during. Dinner with an old friend. Did Disney. You get the drift. We left Fletcher here in Charleston with Josh’s parents rather than bring him with us. While I missed him so much I know he was happier here with his schedule than he would have been there running around town with us.

So here are a few scenes from the week. This is completely unrepresentative though because I had 30 family members there and, well, very few people are in the pictures. I need to get better about that. The week just goes so fast. By the way, Shake Shack is freaking good.

The resort. It was beautiful. This is the world’s largest circular pool. Apparently that is a claim to fame… Pretty anyway though, right?

The ol’ lay across the laps beach pose… And my head is probably nodding off in that baseball picture.

I wore my new yellow Madewell hexagon dress that I told you all about. I’m in love with it.

In fact, I’m in love with bunches of Madewell’s current dresses. I snatched up this Tunic Dress last week too. Freaking love it. I did manage to resist the 3 other dresses that I really really wanted. Go me, I guess, right?

Anyway, it was a really nice break. And also great to come home to Fletcher, our house, oh and our new house too! Lots of progress being made over there: cascading kitchen marble, more tile, a mint front door, a little something called electricity. I’ll try to share an update this week! Happy Monday, Everyone.

The designer’s favorites is back today with interior designer Marianne of Haven & Home.  Based out of Birmingham, Marianne has made quite a name for herself.  She was recently featured in Birmingham Home & Garden as one of their trendsetters!

Go girl!  So today she’s visiting to share some of the favorite things in her own home.  With that, I present the lovely Marianne.
Hi Everyone, it is great to be here today!  It is nice to take a second to look around at what I really love in our house.  Here a just a few things that are safe from my constant editing.

1.  Our dining room light.  This was the first piece I had made for our house, even before we moved in.  It has been called a lot of names by our friends, some good, some not, but I don’t care.  I love it just as much today as I did when it was first installed.

2.  This old cart was found in the basement of a house my parents bought.  The second I saw it I claimed it as mine.  I used a piece of scrap marble for the top and it now resides in the living room as a side table.

3.  Just recently I received this library table from my Mother-In-Law.  I love having a large table in our living room.  It splits time as a display for books, pictures and plants and a general catchall.  To me there is really nothing quite like a library table.

4.  After the most recent round of “reshuffle the house” the bookcase found its way to the curb.  However, every house needs a good set of shelves.  My Husband built these in a little nook behind the front door.

5.  Around our house there a little things that remind me of favorite people and places.  The small painting and antique South American map are just two items that are meaningful and decorative.

Thanks Chassity for having me guest blog!

Thanks so much to Marianne for letting us peak into her home.  Love the idea of covering the old cart with a slab of marble, of course I’m a marble freak!! ;)  if you haven’t already checked out her blog, be sure to go visit her at Haven & Home.  Her blog is full of the most lovely images and ideas.

Who else is ready for another guest favorites feature??  I sure am.  And this week’s is GOOD!  Who doesn’t love Sue from The Zhush?!  Maybe some of you have seen her ski home in Vermont.  GORGEOUS.  When I saw it I just gazed wide eyed at the screen.  Well today, Sue is giving us a peak into her home she lives in full time.  And with that…

Hi everyone, I’m Sue from The Zhush!  I’m thrilled to be participating in this great series that Chassity has going on over here!  Without further adieu, here are some spots/areas/things in my home that I love!

1.  This fun little vignette is what greets you in my foyer when you walk in the front door.  The Kate Spade books were a Birthday gift from one of my nearest and dearest friends, and the colors served as inspiration for the rest of the entryway.  My children love to collect shells on vacation, these two are some prize finds from several years back.

2.  This runner is brand new!  It sits in the narrow hallway that connects my husband’s office to the rest of the house.  This area is part of a relatively new renovation, I still think the hallway came out too narrow, but I love this rug so much, that not only do I want to wear it, but, its making me hate the hallway a lot less.

3. Mr. and Mrs. Jones…these are orange and lemon juicers.  I tend to like quirky home items, and these two fit the bill just fine!

4.  Another part of our renovation was adding a large mudroom. I love this room so much, especially the window area and the bulletin board next to it.

5.  Our back porch!  Even a gloomy winter day can’t bring down the style factor of my lovely white tolix chairs. I adore these chairs, this table and the whole back area…even if I can’t really use it all year long…I can look longingly at it through my window and dream of warmer days!

6.  Last but not least (self serving plug warning!) I have done many blog posts about our little ski condo, but I just couldn’t resist including this little vignette from our Master Bedroom here.  Not only do I adore these fabulous python trays…but I sell them in my online shop:  http://www.zhush.com.
Thanks again for having me over here…I hope you enjoyed my little house tour with my favorite things!
A Big thanks to Sue for taking us on a tour of some of her favorites in her home.  Before you ask, her rug was custom made.  I know, it’s divine.  Absolutely adore that girl, her blog, and her store.  Have you visited the Zhush online store?  I couldn’t help but put together a little something consisting of some of my favorites that she carries…

 There’s so much to see.  Be sure to go take a look.
