Okay- you’ve been asking, so I’ll share some details of my trip {yes I was going to anyway, ha!}.

Vegas = 29th Birthday Amazingness

For real, this short 3 night getaway was mind blowingly fabulous.  Josh and I went with my Dad, his girlfriend, my older brother, and sis-n-law.  {note to any of my younger readers: if it hasn’t happened yet, yes there will come a time when vacations with your family (and even to Vegas) will be the ones you cherish the most.}  My Dad treated, and he really knows how to indulge and show everyone a good time.

On our way to Vegas on Friday we stopped over in KY and had lunch with my Dad and younger half brother.  He’s ten and for obvious reasons wasn’t joining us on the trip. {Yep, pulled him out of school for a bit.  But I don’t see him that often}.  Sadly I don’t have any pictures of this…

But I do have some to share while we were in Vegas.  As you might assume, I spent a lot of time shopping, gambling, eating, drinking fantastic concoctions, and hitting up the spa.  We also went to The Beatles Love Show by Cirque.  Fantastic.  Here’s a hodgepodge of some of the shots I got.

{That would be my handsome father and me.}
We all stayed at the Wynn Hotel in Salon Suites.  And in case you’re wondering, they’re amazing.  1800 square feet and absolutely beautiful.  Large living area, beautiful bedroom and bath, an extra bath, a massage room…   Our room was up at the top of the hotel and had an amazing view that I never really managed to get good pictures of.  But here’s the living area of our room.
I won’t bore you with more pictures of the space, but it was gorgeous.  And on to some other details…  Here’s a shot of some of the things I brought along.

There was a lot of eating…
{Dad’s girlfriend Lisa, Josh, Me, Sis-n-law Kim, Brother BJoe, and Dad}
{Sorry for blurry photo, only shot of Josh and me! Look, my sequin skirt made the trip.}
{So did my sequin dress, sadly I have no photos from that night!}
I squeezed in a quick bite with fellow blogger Amanda from Recycled Consign & Design.  That girl is absolutely gorgeous, sweet, and so much fun.  Love her.  {Can you believe we forgot to take a pic?? !}
Like every good girl, I dragged my butt out of bed for shopping… but so worth it.  Thank you coffee.
Some other fun photos from the weekend taken with my Instagram App for Iphone.  You want this app!
{Street shot, some of my jewelry, Josh snoozing, and a shot of my Jimmy Choo Lavish birthday shoes (Thanks Dad!).}
{With my sis-n-law.  Isn’t she cute??! She and I were bf’s in middle school, that’s how she met my brother.
Oh, and I had a fashion emergency b/c the dress I planned to wear for my birthday night wasn’t a zip up (ie pull over the head variety), and my hair was already done…. I threw the above ensemble together though and I think it was pretty cute (thank goodness I did get up and go shopping, ha.}
My Dad and Lisa surprised me with a birthday cake.  They’re clearly aware of my fondness for Louis Vuitton…
{We didn’t even eat it b/c it was so pretty. It flew home with me. Gimme Some Sugar Bakery created it.}
If you’ve made it this far, I thank you.  I try not to babble about myself too often, but I couldn’t resist sharing a little of the Vegas magic with you. It was an amazing birthday weekend.
xoxo,

Look who’s in the house today – – none other than Angie Hranowsky.  You know, just the brilliant mind behind spaces like these…

Mind blowing.  This is the quality of work every designer strives to achieve.  And she does it effortlessly.
I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Angie, and she’s honestly just as cool as the spaces she designs.  {Girl Crush!!}  I’m thrilled to let you all get a glimpse into her life too.  She oh so graciously took the time to do a little Q&A session.
LLL: We’re catching a jet to Italy. What do you want to do first?
Angie: First we check into the Hotel Parco Dei Principi in Sorrento on the Amalfi Coast. It was designed entirely by Gio Ponti in 1962, all the way down to the furniture and tiles. After we walk around and drool we hit the pool and order a glass of prosecco.
LLL: Are you a collecting kind of gal?
Angie: Yes. I collect art. Art is one of the most important parts of my work and often times the jumping off point when I design a space. I buy what moves me even if I don’t have a place for it. I currently have a 5′ x 7′ painting that I bought a year ago waiting in a warehouse in Atlanta until I can find a place for it. I was disappointed that I missed The Armory Show in NYC last week, but I’m planning to go to Art Basel Miami in December.
{Angie’s own living room and gallery wall.}
LLL: What is your greatest extravagance?
Angie: Shoes & very expensive dark chocolate
LLL: Let’s say the world has gone awry and you are not an interior designer.  What would you most like to do?
Angie: Maybe fashion design or a stylist, but really I can’t imagine being anything other than an interior designer. I was meant for this and I love every second of it.

{Angie’s home. I’d agree, she’s meant for this.}
LLL: What is your most memorable life moment?
Angie: The birth of my beautiful children, Loulou and Sasha. Those are experiences that you can remember down to the very minute.
{Angie’s gorgeous children}

LLL: Would you divulge a few of your (not to trade only) favorite shopping spots when decorating?
Angie: Ebay, 1st dibs, Mecox Gardens and ABC Carpet & Home, as well as any good flea market I can get my hands on.

LLL: You obviously have a flair for fashion. Who is your style icon/favorite designer?
Angie: Yes, I LOVE fashion. I’m a kid of the 70’s so I love all things bohemian. I’m not fussy and I’m not into flirty, feminine clothes. My style is more hippie chic, but a bit edgy. I’ve always been attracted to women who who appear effortless and take something masculine and give it a twist. Anita Pallenberg, the longtime girlfriend of Keith Richards, is an illustrious source of inspiration. Not surprisingly my other favorite is Kate Moss, who appears to also admire Anita’s style. Some favorite designers include Givenchy, Diane von Furstenberg and vintage Halston.
LLL: So we are out for dinner and drinks. What do you order?
Angie: If we’re just hanging then chips, salsa, guacamole and a frozen margarita with salt. If we’re going to a nice dinner, then braised short ribs with fresh vegetables and a glass of champagne. And always the richest chocolate desert on the menu.
{Not a margarita but a fun cocktail nonetheless.}
LLL: What design trend are you tired of?
Angie: I am tired of the “glam” look. I think doses of different styles are always good. I love mixing it up, that’s what makes for the most interesting spaces, but to much of one look, no matter what it is, can get tired. The unfortunate part is that well designed furniture or beautiful textiles can lose their appeal, not because they aren’t affecting, but because they are overdone.
{I think Angie mixes it up quite well, agree?}

LLL: Which blogs are daily reads of yours?
Angie: There are so many terrific blogs that it’s hard to keep up with them all. A few current favorites are Miss Moss, Pattern Observer, The Wonderlust Journal and this super cool blog called Look Linger Love. {I coerced Angie with margaritas to say that…}

With a talent like that it’s no surprise that Angie has upcoming publications in Design Bureau, Australian Home Beautiful, Adore Home Magazine, Metropolis, and our very own Charleston Home.  Her work will also be featured in an upcoming book by Susanna Salk that is coming out with Rizzoli in Spring 2012.

Whew, she’s busy!  And on top of all of that, did you know she also has a blog?!  Trust me, you want to follow her every move.

Thanks so much for joining us today, Angie.  It’s been a pleasure to  peek into your porfolio and share your awesomeness with my readers.  xoxo.

Charleston is abuzz with all things fashion as Charleston Fashion Week approaches.  There are wardrobe choices to be made, hair appointments needed…  Oh wait, that’s me.  Just imagine the array of details all of the designers have been juggling the past few weeks.  Well today we get to have a look at the process.  Children’s designer Barbara Beach will be showing her new collection on opening night.  It’s one show that I’m definitely looking forward to seeing.  And today she’s joining us to share some details of her journey as well as a look at her collection.

Barbara has designed the most charming collection of tailored, vintage inspired pieces.  Inspired by dreams of globe-trotting, Barbara shares “I want to paint a picture of the well-traveled child”.
{A peek at some of the gorgeous shoes that will be used in the show.}
Barbara also offered some of the details of her journey to the runway.
{Above is the invitation to the runway practice party all fourteen of the young models received.}
{And the runway practice party…  So charmingly sweet!  The girls dressed themselves.  You didn’t think we’d be giving away the whole collection here did you??}
I also squeezed in a few questions for Barbara.

LLL: Any laugh out loud moments during your preparations for the show?
Barbara: These moments have happened every step of the planning process. While choosing music for the show… I laugh at every song that doesn’t fit the show. The children at the runway practice said funny things when I was asking them to do certain things. And for the clothing… oh the clothing… measurements, colors and patterns. So many things are bound to go wrong, when planning a runway show, so I just have to laugh.
LLL: What will you do to celebrate once CFW comes to an end?
Barbara: I am planning on getting out of the house as much as I can! There will definitely be swimming involved, coffee with friends, and maybe (definitely) a day trip out of Charleston:)
LLL: What does a children’s clothing designer choose to wear to her very own runway show?
Barbara: Oh, well! Thats a great question, because… Im in the process of looking for my outfit… any suggestions? So far, my favorite online place that fits the look that Im going for is ASOS. I just love the European look of the clothing.
What an honor to have Barbara visiting today.  If you’d like to see more, head over to her gorgeous blog, B.b. Inspired.  And trust me, you don’t want to miss out on the CFW festitivies.  Visit the Charleston Fashion Week website for information and tickets!!  See you there.
