A Minted Holiday

Gift Guide: One For One. For All

We are big fans of TOMS here at my house. Some of my kids’ favorite pairs of shoes are TOMS. They’re cute, simple, and best of all they pay it forward. This December 5 -7, Southerners will gather at the historic state park Charles Towne Landing here in Charleston, SC for a fun mix of shopping, food, music, and entertainment. JUBILEE 2014 will basically be celebrating the best of Garden & Gun all in one place. The designers, artisans, artists, and craftsmen who will be setting up mini shops in the JUBILEE marketplace will provide for some incredible holiday shopping opportunities. A few of the talents I’m most looking forward to seeing there…

 

Laura Vinroot Poole – Laura will be curating a few of her favorite things from both of her renowned boutiques based in Charlotte, NC – Capital and Poole Shop.

Jane Scott Hodges – The founder of Leontine Linens will be showcasing her fine lines as part of the Meet the Makers Trunk Shows, giving consultations, and taking custom orders.

Life Lately

Morning. Sharing a little life lately today. It was a great weekend here in Charleston. Halloween was a big huge success. We went simple with the kids’ costumes this year. Fletch was a pirate and Lilly was a witch. We had a neighborhood party and then trick or treating. I also spent all morning at the school for the various parades/carnivals/class parties. Halloween is a pretty big deal.

Last Thursday I co-hosted a party at the Nathaniel Russell House downtown with the Historic Charleston Foundation. It was gorgeous, and I can say that because I had zilch to do with the planning. Here are two of my favorite rooms in the house…

I managed to steal away for an hour downtown this weekend and picked up a new favorite sweater. It’s the high-low sweater and I’m pretty sure I’m going to get it in more colors. Simple and cozy and easy.

Happy Faces

One of the most anticipated moments of my kids’ day is after school snack time. It’s a big deal that can sometimes lead to meltdowns if deemed unsatisfactory. Any other moms feel me? Some days are more exciting than others. Yesterday Shari’s Berries made me look really good with their zoo animal brownie pops. And for tonight’s neighborhood party and trick or treating she’s going to be a witch. At least, that’s the plan… She just can’t quite decide for certain!

Kate Spade & Jack Spade + Gap Collaboration

IT’S HERE!! Seems like forever ago we were hearing whispers about a rumored Kate Spade & Jack Spade + Gap collaboration. I stalked websites,  I googled… anything to get a peek. And as of today the collection is now available. As expected, it’s pretty adorable!

The whole collection is totally wearable and fun. So much so that Lilly insisted upon wearing this dress to school the next day. I didn’t argue.

Soooo… Fletcher’s hair. He cut it. CHOPPED it. Himself. The night before our family shoot. You can imagine my angst. I know, I know. It’s just hair and it grows back. No biggie. But it still broke my heart a little.
